Hi im having really bad luck with orchids. Up to date i believe i have owned at least 5 and everyone of them has died and i cant figure out why. Ive looked all over the Internet and got overwhelming results that i cant understand at all. I am just a novice at orchids and all i want is just a small and basic awnser. I finally gave up after all this time and now i want to try again and start fresh. If any would like to awnser the questions like; watering, pesticides, light, fertilizer, etc. that would be much appreciated.

P.S. Also everytime i got an orchide, a white residue that looked like dried up was covered on the leaves. If anyone has an awnser for that also, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Now, I see some white spots on the leaves, and even the blooms dry and the flowering is aborted. It has been sunny, and I expected the blooms!
My orchids are out in the sun. The white spots look like scales. No, they have not been over-watered because I have not changed the routine.
