I am trying to grow a cattleya orchid, but I don’t know a lot about them. I have been all over the internet, but they all say different things. I know that they have a special pot, and that the roots should dry between waterings. But does anyone know which plant food and medium are the best? I have saw sites that say to use coconut bark, charcoal chunks… And fertilizers… Ugh! 11-35-15, or 20-14-13… Help! I have a cattleya on the way and I already have a happy phalaenopsis (unless anyone knows a fertilizer I should feed him. ) Help! I already have a planting medium that is supposed to be made for phal’s. Could I use that for the Cattleya? I love the cattleyas, and I want it to grow and be healthy. Any tips? Thank you!!!

I bought a Phal from Lowes the other day. It's in flower and I know if I repot it now, I will probably lose the blooms, but it has been in this pot for at least a year according to the attached tag, and the potting medium smells mildewy. If I don't repot it now, will the plant die because of the mold? Please advise, I'm a newbie with orchids!
Thanks!
It looks like sphagnum moss, but it's kinda funky looking, there may be some bark in there.

i have just bought my first two orchids, Phalaenopsis and Miltonia, can u plz help me with the following:

1. humidity is low where i live (10-30%) and i have placed the plants on humidity pebbles tray, is this enough to provide sufficient constant humidity for my orchids? and how often should i moisten the pebbles? should i mist the plants too?

2.i have read that overwatering can kill ur orchids. i bought mine yesterday and watered them immediately without checking if they really needed it. can u kill ur orchid by overwatering them ONCE?

3.i have placed both orchids next to a west facing window without curtains, they would prbably get 2-3 hours of direct sunlight is that ok?

4. is it easy to care for Phal and Miltonia in the same planting conditions cuz i have put them together on the humidity pebbles tray

thanks a lot for answering !!
